ORDER

(This writ petition is heard through video conference) This writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus seeking for a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 27.10.2020, seeking for grant of Stage Carriage Permit to ply on the route Kovilpatti SIDCO Estate to Kansapuram via Thiruvengadam, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 2.Heard Mr.T.Padmanabhan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and Mr.C.Ramesh, learned Special Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

3.By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. 4.It is the case of the petitioner that he applied for grant of Stage Carriage Permit to ply on the route Kovilpatti SIDCO Estate to Kansapuram via Thiruvengadam with the respondent, on 27.10.2020, in prescribed format along with necessary fee and other relevant documents. According to the petitioner, he also sent reminder on 1/3

18.11.2020, to the respondent to consider his application for Stage Carriage Permit expeditiously. However, according to him, till date his application has not been considered by the respondent. In such circumstances, this writ petition has been filed. 5.The relief sought for in this writ petition is an innocuous relief. Admittedly, the petitioner has applied for the grant of a new Stage Carriage Permit to ply on the route Kovilpatti SIDCO Estate to Kansapuram via Thiruvengadam with the respondent on 27.10.2020. It is the case of the petitioner that the said application was submitted in the prescribed format and he has also paid necessary fee and other relevant documents were also produced. Further it is his case that till date, his application has not been considered by the respondent. No prejudice will be caused to the respondent, if the application of the petitioner seeking for grant of Stage Carriage Permit is considered by them on merits and in accordance with law.

6.For the foregoing reasons, this Court directs the respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 27.10.2020, seeking for grant of Stage Carriage Permit to ply his vehicle on the route Kovilpatti SIDCO Estate to Kansapuram via Thiruvengadam and pass final orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after hearing all the necessary parties, including the petitioner. 7.With the aforesaid direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
