ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by N.SATHISH KUMAR, J.) The prayer in this writ petition is to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 3rd respondent to take action in furtherance to the order of the 2nd respondent in Na.Ka.A3.450/2026 dated 23.02.2026 to cancel all the assignment patta issued in favour of ineligible beneficiaries in Survey Nos. 380/23, 380/24, 380/31, 380/32, 380/33, 380/34 in Vettriyur Group Village, Karaikudi Taluk, Sivagangai District and further direct the 1st respondent to restore the land to Government Poramboke for re-assignment to eligible beneficiaries.

2. The grievance of the petitioner is that assignment pattas have been given to the private respondents herein who are not landless poor. According to the petitioner, the lands meant for landless poor and weaker sections have been given to third parties and pattas have also been issued. Hence, he seeks the abovesaid direction.

3. Perusal of the affidavit and the pattas annexed in the typed set of papers indicates that what was given is not assignment patta, whereas, it is only a natham patta based on the possession. The said pattas have been issued in the year 2017 and now after a lapse of more than 9 years, the petitioner, as a matter of right, cannot seek cancellation by way of Public Interest Litigation. Further, the petitioner has no locus standi to question the same.

4. Hence, this Writ Petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
