O R D E R

Heard the learned counsel on either side. With the consent of the learned counsel on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal. The writ petitioner is a resident of Anaiyur Village, Madurai. He belongs to Muthiraiyar community. The petitioner wants to erect the statue of Perasarar Perumpidagu Muthiraiyar in his patta land. The petitioner has given an application in this regard to the first respondent. It is not as if the petitioner wants to put up a statue in a public place. It has been held time and again that the permission of the authorities is not required for putting up statue in one's patta land. Be that as it may, the petitioner out of abundant caution seeks formal permission.

W.P.(MD)No.19157 of 2020 2.Since prior permission is not required, the respondents are restrained from interfering with the erection of the petition mentioned statue in the petition mentioned site. The writ petition is disposed of on these terms. No costs.
