Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent to take necessary steps to speedy disposal of the petition dated 06.02.2018 filed by the petitioner regard with to issue the death certificate of the petitioner's father within stipulated time limit fixed by this Court. ORDER

The petitioner's father Rajamani had unfortunately died on 28.07.1993. The said death, according to the petitioner was not registered in accordance with law or with the rules and regulations. Therefore, a death certificate could not be issued that the petitioner's father had died. The petitioner wants to transfer patta of the property from the name of his father to himself. For this particular purpose, a death certificate is required.

2. Mr.S.Kameswaran, learned Government Advocate, appears on behalf of the respondents.

3. The petitioner gave a representation to the first respondent / the Revenue Divisional Officer, Sankarankovil Sub Division, Thiruvengadam Road, Tenkasi District to do the needful. The representation was given on 06.02.2018 and it is still pending on the office of the first respondent.

4. A direction is issued to the first respondent to take a decision on or before 31.01.2022 with respect to the said representation given by the petitioner. The petitioner may also give a fresh copy of the said representation to the first respondent. On receipt of such copy, the first respondent may call the petitioner for inquiry, do the needful and conduct any other inquiries as is required, if the first respondent is competent to comply with the request of the petitioner or else inform the petitioner as to the proper steps to be taken to get the death certificate of his father or recognition of the death of his father by the public authorities. A direction is given to the first respondent to comply with the said representation on or before 31.01.2022.

5. With the said observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
