PRAYER : Criminal Original Petition is filed under Section 482 of Cr.P.C, directing the respondent Police to complete the investigation in Crime No.177 of 2012 and to file final report within the period that may be stipulated by this Court.

2. On a complaint given by the defacto complainant, the respondent Police have registered a case in Crime No.177 of 2012 about 11 years ago against the petitioner and other accused. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in spite of taking more than eleven years, the respondent Police could not complete the investigation of routine offences like 406, 417, 420, 467, 468, 201 and 506 (ii) of I.P.C. r/w 120 (b) of I.P.C.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) on the other hand, submits that, the respondent Police are in the process of completing the investigation and within a short time, they will file the charge sheet before the concerned Court.

4. Considering the circumstances, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of, directing the respondent Police to complete the investigation in Crime No.177 of 2012 within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, failing which, the petitioner is at liberty to move an application seeking quashment of the crime.
