Heard both sides.

2. The writ petitoner is a former panchayat president. He is aggrieved by the fact that the respondents are putting up a threshing floor in the petition-mentioned water body.

3. It is not in dispute that survey No.337/2, A.Kallankuthu Village has been classified as lake. When the classification of the said survey number as a water body is not in dispute, we fail to understand as to why, in such place, the respondents could have conceived the idea of setting up a threshing floor. We have held in 2/4

3 W.P.(MD)NO.18492 OF 2025 many cases that putting up construction on a water body is impermissible.

4. We therefore direct the respondents to not only desist from carrying further activity but also dismantle the structure that was put up and clear the same. They should also ensure that the water body is restored to its original condition. This writ petition stands allowed accordingly. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
