ORDER
This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the 1st respondent to direct the 2nd respondent not to harass the petitioner's Alagu Sports & Recreation Club's (Registration No.SRG/Palani/32/2025 dated 15310.2025) activities and run the said recreational club peacefully based on the petitioner's representation dated 10.06.2026.

When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police categorically submitted that the petitioner is not running a recreation club as claimed, but is indulging in gambling activities in the name of Alagu Sports & Recreation Club. It was further submitted that, based on credible information, an FIR in Crime No.266 of 2026 came to be registered on 13.06.2026 against eight persons for the offences under Sections 8 and 9 of the Tamil Nadu Gaming Act, 1930. Therefore, according to the learned Government Advocate, the question of seeking protection restraining the respondent police from interfering with the activities carried on in the club does not arise. On the said grounds, he sought for dismissal of the writ petition.

3. Heard the learned counsels on either sides and carefully perused the materials placed before this Court.

A careful perusal of the FIR reveals that a sum of Rs.35,500/- in cash and seven mobile phones were seized from the spot in connection with the alleged gambling activities conducted under the guise of "Alagu Sports & Recreation Club". The materials collected during the course of the raid prima facie indicate that the premises were being used for gambling activities in the name of the said club.
5. In view of the foregoing discussion and the materials available on record, I do not find any merit in the writ petition warranting interference by this Court. Accordingly, this writ petition stands dismissed. 23.06.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Sm 3/4
