PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to issue equivalence certificate clarifying that B.Sc.Special Physics offered by the 4th respondent college is equivalent to B.Sc.Physics for the purpose of public employment within the period that may be stipulated by this Court. By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.
2. Heard Mr.T.Aswin Raja Simman, learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and Mr.M.Siddharthan, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent Nos.1 and 2.
3. This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the second respondent to issue Equivalence Certificate by clarifying that B.Sc. Special Physics offered by the fourth respondent College is equivalent to B.Sc.Physics for the purpose of public employment within the period that may be stipulated by this Court.

Today, when the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that as per the Government Order in G.O.(Ms).No.244, Higher Education (K1) Department, dated 12.09.2023, B.Sc., (Special) Physics offered by the American College, Madurai (Autonomous) affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University is held to be not equivalent to B.Sc., Physics for the purpose of employment in Public Service. Bur, however, the said Government Order has not been challenged so far.
5. Since the order has already been passed holding that the petitioners' educational qualification is not equivalent, there is no question of considering it once again.
6. In view of the above, the Writ Petition stands dismissed. No costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 01.08.2024 NCC:yes/no Index:yes/no Internet:yes/no TSG 3/5
