PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representations dated 21.06.2025 and to approve the petitioner's name change request and publish the same in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette as 'Vallitheivanai' instead of 'Deivanai' within the stipulated time fixed by this Court.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representations 1/4

dated 21.06.2025 and to approve the petitioner's name change request and publish the same in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette as 'Vallitheivanai' instead of 'Deivanai' within the stipulated time fixed by this Court. 2.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submitted that there is a prescribed form to submit such an application for the prayer to name change. Just a request cannot be considered. The form is submitted before this Court and the same is extracted hereunder: 2/4

3.Therefore, the petitioner is directed to submit the application in the above prescribed format and shall pay the required fees along with the required documents within a period of 2 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. On receipt of the same, the respondents shall consider and pass orders within a period of 4 weeks therefrom.

4.With the above observations, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
