ORDER

This petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the respondents 3 to 6 to ensure participation of the 10 families who are excommunicated from the Village in Kullai Amman Temple, Bagavathi Amman Temple, Mariamman Temple, Manickamalayan Temple and Perumal Kovil Veedu situated at Muthakapatti Village, Karur District and consequently to direct the respondents 3 to 6 to ensure receipt of tax from the 10 families for the upcoming event scheduled between 23.06.2026 to 25.06.2026 based on petitioner's representation dated 22.05.2026, within the time frame fixed by this Court. 2/6

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner categorically contended that it is not only the private respondent who is preventing the petitioner and the members of ten other families from participating in the temple festival, but that even the Inspector of Police is obstructing their participation in the temple festival by citing law and order issues.

3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police submitted that the Inspector of Police has no role to play in the dispute between the petitioner and the proposed accused. It was further submitted that an enquiry had already been conducted and the same was closed on 21.06.2026.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the private respondent submitted that the private respondent has no objection to permit the petitioner and the members of the ten families referred to by the petitioner to participate in the temple festival and that they are very much willing to receive the temple tax from them in accordance with the customary practice.

5. Heard the learned counsel on either sides and carefully perused the materials placed before this Court.

6. Recording the above submission, this writ petition stands disposed of with a direction to the respondent police to ensure that the petitioner and the members of the ten families referred to by him are permitted to participate in the temple festival without any hindrance.

7. It is made clear that the private respondents shall not excommunicate or prevent any person, including the petitioner and the members of the said ten families, from participating in the temple festival. The petitioner and the members of the ten families are directed to cooperate for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the temple festival without creating any law and order problem. It is further directed that the temple tax payable by the petitioner and the members of the said ten families shall be received by the persons concerned in accordance with the customary practice.
