O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction against the first respondent/District Collector, Tenkasi, to restore the street name of Late.Natarasanar of Kulasekarapatti Village running from Pavoorchatram to Kurumpalaperi Village. The petitioner has given a representation on 10.01.2022. 2.Heard Mr.S.Kumar, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.N.Muthu Vijayan, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

3.In the affidavit filed in support of this Writ Petition, it had been stated that Late.Natarasanar, belongs to Kulasekarapatti Panchayat, Keelapavoor Union at Tenkasi District. He was a District Panchayat Committee Member for five years and had brought to the village several Government schemes, like, Well, Over head tank, cement road and ration shop. A pathway which was in non motorable condition was converted 2/5

as Tar road. It had been stated that the villagers have given a petition to have it named after Late.Natarasanar. A resolution was also passed. It is stated that however the third respondent had removed the name of Late.Natarasanar. In this connection, the petitioner had given a representation to the first respondent.

4.A mandamus is issued to the first respondent/District Collector, Tenkasi District, who may issue notice to the petitioner and other residents of the said village and hear them out and also obtain details of the public service done by Late.Natarasanar and thereafter, if the name was earlier given to the street, take a considered decision about restoring the name back to the street. The said exercise by the District Collector, Tenkasi, may be done within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
