What is under challenge is the decision taken in a peace committee meeting. It is seen that the Tahsildar, Manamadurai had convened a meeting of "A" party and "B"party. The petitioner represents "A" party. The petitioner refused to sign the minutes. In the minutes drawn by the Tahsildar, certain decisions have been set out.

2. I have consistently held that the Tahsildar cannot take any binding decision in a peace committee meeting. Even if the petitioner disobeys the decision or acts in breach of the same, he will not incur any legal consequence. The impugned order has no statutory value or force.

3. With this observation and clarification, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
