ORDER

A mandamus is sought for by the petitioner to dispose of his petition dated 20.06.2024 within a stipulated time.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that his father had purchased a larger extent of agricultural land in S.Nos.7/8 and 7/9 of Malaipatti Revenue Village, Madurai North Taluk, Madurai on 09.09.1952 and after his demise, the petitioner and his brothers have been enjoying the same. Even during the lifetime of his father, his father alienated portions of the property and after he passed away on 17.02.1984, the petitioner and his brothers were issued with a joint patta bearing Patta No.276 in respect of lands in S.Nos.7/8A and 7/8C1. While so, the fifth respondent, who is a cousin of the petitioner and in no way connected with the property in question, has managed to have his name included in the patta. Therefore,

the petitioner had represented to the second respondent to forthwith delete the name of the fifth respondent from the joint patta and this request has not been acceded to to date.

3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

4. Considering the above request, a mandamus is issued to the second respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.06.2024 and pass orders after giving opportunity to the petitioner as well as the fifth respondent within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is allowed. No costs.
