PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 & 2 to convene a peace committee meeting for peaceful conduct of the annual festival in A/m.Kaliamman Temple, Kumarampatti, Pudhuvadi Village, Manapparai Taluk, Trichy District and consequently direct the respondents 1 & 2 to take necessary action to ensure the participation of the petitioner and his group in the said festival by considering the petitioner's representation dated 10.07.2023.

The petitioner has filed this writ petition for a Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 & 2 to convene a peace committee meeting for the conduct of a festival of Arulmighu Kaliamman Temple, Kumarampatti, Pudhuvadi Village, Manapparai Taluk, Trichy.

2.Mr.M.Sarangan, learned Additional Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents 1 & 2 submits that there is no provision enabling the revenue officials or the police to conduct a peace committee meeting and they are not having any statutory force. However, it is reported by the learned Additional Government Pleader that the Tahsildar, Manapparai has initiated a peace committee proceedings in Na.Ka.No.A5/3883/2023, dated 18.07.2023.

3.Recording the submission made by the learned Additional Government Pleader, this writ petition is closed with a liberty to the petitioner to work out his remedy with the Tahsildar. Manapparai. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
