O R D E R

The present writ petition has been filed for a Mandamus to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of gratuity, provident fund, EL surrender salary and leave salary from the date of retirement to the date of actual payment within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court.

2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is a retired employee of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and the petitioner has retired from service on 30.09.2024. However, the respondents have disbursed the retirement benefits to the petitioner belatedly. Hence, the petitioner is now claiming 6% interest for the belated payment of retirement benefits.

3. Heard both sides and perused the records.

4. Considering the submissions made on either side, this Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioner is entitled to 6% interest for the Page No. 2 of 4

belated payment of retirement benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursement.

5. In view of the above, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum on the belated disbursement of retirement benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursement within a period of three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
