O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed, seeking a direction to the respondents to permit the petitioner to celebrate the Vaigasi 2016 festival and other as usual rituals with effect from 22.05.2016 to 30.05.2016 (In the Tamil Month of Vaigasi 9 to 17 in the Tamil year Durmugi) at the inner temples namely Kaliyamman Kovil and Karuppu Kovil located inside the main temple namely Sri Koppudaiyamman Kovil situate at Konapattu Village, Thirumayam Taluk, Pudukkottai District with police protection on the basis of the petitioner's representation, dated 26.03.2016.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner. Mr.Aayiram K.Selvakumar, learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents 1 to 5 and 7 and Mr.G.Mathavan, learned counsel takes notice for the sixth respondent.

3. This Court is aware of the fact that the Election Commission of India has already announced time table for elections to the State Assembly and therefore, the police will be under much strain. Under such circumstances, it will not be advisable to grant permission for such programmes, if there are going to be any law and order problem.

4. However the respondent police is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 26.03.2016, after the Election to the State Assembly is over ie., after 20.05.2016 and pass orders on the same, after hearing all the parties and take action in accordance with law, taking into account the law and order problem and other aspects, prevailing in the area, as expeditiously as possible.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently connected Miscellaneous Petition is also closed.
