Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to protect the petitioner's son namely Duraimurugan, son of Vetrivel Nadar, now confining at Palayamkottai Central Prison from torture and harassment during the transport of the petitioner's son from Palayamkottai Central Prison to trial Courts and during the custodial interrogation by the police officials in accordance with law.

O R D E R

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to protect the petitioner's son, namely Duraimurugan, son of Vetrivel Nadar, now confining at Palayamkottai Central Prison from torture and harassment during transport of the 1/4

petitioner's son from Palayamkottai Central Prison to trial Courts and during the custodial interrogation by the police officials in accordance with law.

2. The grievance of the petitioner is that, her son, by name Duraimurugan is implicated in criminal cases. Now, he confined in Central Prison, Palayamkottai and he has been taken to various Courts for trial. At that time, the respondents police are harassing him. Hence, the present Writ Petition has been filed.

3. Today, when the Writ Petition was taken up for hearing, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner's son involved in many criminal cases and he is an under-trial prisoner, for trial, he was taken frequently to various Courts. But, during transport, the petitioner's son is not subjected to any harassment and he has been treated well.

4. The above said submission made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents is, hereby, recorded. However, the respondents are directed not to harass and torture the petitioner's son.
