JUDGMENT

(Judgment of the Court was delivered by N.Seshasayee, J.) The appellant is being tormented by the Cooperative Society from paying his terminal benefits.

2. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the Society made a statement that the Society has been gracious enough to pay part of the payment of the appellant's terminal benefits, but this Court is simply not impressed.

3. The appellant had superannuated on 30.06.2013 and it is now 11 years since his date of retirement. The Cooperative Society concerned is now required to rework the entire terminal benefits, that is required to be paid with interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the time when the amount became payable within a period of two weeks from today. And this interest amount must be realised from the officials who are responsible for the delay. If there is any further delay, the rate of interest will be 8% per annum.

4. This appeal is accordingly allowed and the Cooperative Society is required to report compliance by 23.07.2024. No costs. (N.S.S., J.) (P.V.M., J.) 01 .07.2024 Note: Issue order copy by 02.07.2024.
