This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the second respondent to give adequate police protection for the peaceful conducting of Kodai Vizha which is scheduled to be held from 25.05.2016 to 27.05.2016 at the premises of Arulmigu Sri Karkuvel Ayyanar Temple situates at Anaikulam Pudur, Atchampadu Panchayat, Radhapuram Taluk, Tirunelveli District, by considering the petitioner's representation, dated 05.05.2016.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the villagers jointly decided to conduct "Kodai Vizha" scheduled to be held from 25.05.2016 to 27.05.2016. He would further submit that in this connection, a representation was given to the respondent police on 05.05.2016, with a request to grant permission to conduct Kodai Vizha on the above said date. the respondent Police has not yet considered the said representation and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this Writ Petition.
3. Heard the learned counsel on either side.
4. In view of the limited scope of prayer sought for in this petition, the second respondent is directed consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 05.05.2016 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible.
With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
