Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to pay a sum of Rs.10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs only) towards compensation, for the death of petitioner's husband due to electrocution on 26.07.2016, occurred due to negligence on the part of the respondents, within the time fix by this Court.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for the following relief : "to direct the respondents to pay a sum of Rs.10,00,000/- (Rupees Ten Lakhs only) towards compensation, for the death of petitioner's husband due to electrocution on 26.07.2016, occurred due to negligence on the part of the respondents, within the time fix by this Court."

2. The petitioner's husband was engaged in Nooru Naal Velai Thittam. On 25.07.2015, while returning home after his duty hours, he came into contact with a low-lying live wire and succumbed to his

injuries the very next day. Since the incident occurred due to the negligence of the respondents, the petitioner seeks compensation for her husband's death.

3. Heard the learned counsels on either side.

The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would produce the proceedings, dated 21.12.2024 of the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited bearing TNPDCL Proceedings No.11, wherein it is seen that the original compensation of Rs.5,00,000/- has been enhanced to a sum of Rs.10,00,000/-. In the case on hand, the accident had taken place on 26.07.2015. Therefore, the petitioner as per this proceedings is entitled to a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- as compensation. The death had occurred on the year 2015 and the petitioner has been moving pillar to post all these years to get the compensation. Therefore, the respondents are directed to pay a sum of Rs.5,00,000/- with interest from the date of death of the petitioner's husband fill the date of payment.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
