Heard the learned counsel on either side.

2. The petitioner is involved in Crime No.349 of 2012 registered on the file of Koodankulam police station. The said case is presently pending at the committal stage in P.R.C.No. 83 of 2020 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate, Radhapuram. As a result, the respondent has issued passport to the petitioner only for a period of one year. The grievance of the writ petitioner is that on account of this, he is unable to pursue his career. His employer is insisting that the petitioner's passport must be valid atleast for a period of three years.

3. I take judicial notice of the fact that in connection with Koodankulam agitation, scores of FIR were registered against hundreds of persons. Many First Information Reports have also been quashed. The case on hand is pending more a decade. Therefore, considering the special facts and circumstances, the first respondent is directed to reissue the writ petitioner's passport for a period of not less than three 2/4
