Prayer : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the 1st to 7th respondents to open the lock, which was illegally put up by the 8th to 11th respondents in Arulmigu Sri Angala Parameswari Temple at Sambavar Vadakarai Village, Tenkasi District and necessary protection for festival which is to be held Pechipadapu on 15.07.2025 and 16.07.2025, Mulaipaari, Kummiadi, Annathanam on 22.07.2025 to 30.07.2025, the petitioner sent a representation on 28.06.2025 and 07.07.2025.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent Nos.1 to 7 to open the lock, stated to have been illegally put up by respondent Nos.8 to 11 in Arulmigu Sri Angala 2/6

Parameswari Temple, Sambavar Vadakarai Village, Tenkasi District, and to provide necessary police protection for conducting the temple festivals, namely Pechipadapu on 15.07.2025 and 16.07.2025, and Mulaipaari, Kummiadi and Annadhanam from 22.07.2025 to 30.07.2025. The petitioner is stated to have submitted representations dated 28.06.2025 and 07.07.2025 in this regard.

2. The learned counsel for respondent Nos.8 and 11 would submit that no such lock has been put up by the respondent Nos.8 to 11 and in fact, all villagers are free to worship in the temple.

3. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor, on instructions, also confirms that no such lock was put up by respondent Nos.8 to 11. Hence, the prayer sought for by the petitioner for a direction to open the lock is misconceived. As regards the prayer for Police protection for the festivals scheduled between 15.07.2025, 16.07.2025, 22.07.2025 to 30.07.2025, the same has become infructuous.

4. In view of the above, the petitioner is granted liberty to submit a fresh representation seeking permission to conduct the festival in future, and upon receipt of the same, the respondent No.6 shall consider it on merits and in 3/6

accordance with law, without being influenced by any of the observations made in this order.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
