ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking for a direction to the 1st and 2nd respondents to give adequate police protection to her shop bearing Door No. 94/99, Aruna Fruit Shop, Palayamkottai Road, (Presently Kamarajar Salai), Tiruchendur, Thoothukudi District from the 3rd and 5th respondents and their men or agent within the time frame fixed by this Court.

2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police submitted that on the petitioner's complaint dated 05.07.2025, an FIR in Crime No.408 of 2026 has been registered today ie., on 04.06.2026.

3. However, the petitioner seeks for police protection to her shop from the private respondents.

4. Heard the learned counsel on either sides and carefully perused the materials placed before this Court.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, the second respondent police is directed to issue notices to both the petitioner and the private respondents under Section 64 of the BNSS, conduct an enquiry, and conclude the same within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. Upon conclusion of the enquiry, if it is found necessary that the petitioner be provided with adequate protection, the second respondent police shall afford appropriate police protection to the petitioner, subject to payment of the requisite charges, in accordance with G.O.Ms.No.139, Home (Pol-VIII) Department, dated 04.03.2019.

7. With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. 04.06.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Sm 3/4
