O R D E R

The petitioner who is an accused in Crime No.1074 of 2020 on the file of the Inspector of Police, Dindigul Taluk Police Station, Dindigul District has come out with the present petition for a direction to the respondent police to file the final report in Crime No.1074 of 2020 within a stipulated period.

2. Mr.S.Chandrasekar, learned Additional Public Prosecutor takes notice for the respondent and would submit that the petitioner who is the accused cannot file a petition for a direction to the police to investigate the case within a stipulated time. He would also contend that the First Information Report was registered only on 12.09.2020 for the offence punishable under Section 25 (1)(A) of Arms Act, 1959. He therefore prayed for dismissal of the present petition.

3. Considering the submissions made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, the present petition is dismissed. However, the respondent police is directed to expedite the investigation and file the final report as early as possible.
