PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to grant permission to conduct the Kabadi Competition scheduled to be held on 29.07.2023 and 30.07.2023 at about 06.00 AM to 10.00 PM in the playground which is situated at Vellakkal Seyarkai Adukalam (MAT Match), Perungudi Post, Madurai, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 20.07.2023. O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for a direction to respondents / Police to grant permission for conducting of Kabadi Programme from 29.07.2023 and 30.07.2023 at about 06.00 AM to 10.00 PM.

2. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that first time the villagers are planning to conduct the State Level Kabadi Tournament in the Playground, situated at Vellakkal Seyarkai Adukalam (MAT Match), Perungudi Post, Madurai. It is submitted that in spite of the representation given by the petitioner on 20.07.2023, there is no response from the Police. Therefore, he sought for suitable directions.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submits that they have no objection to grant permission in case, the tournament is concluded by 8.00 P.M. instead of 10.00 P.M., for which, the learned counsel for the petitioner has agreed.

4. Considering the circumstances, respondent No.1 Police are directed to consider the representation given by the petitioner, dated 20.07.2023 and grant permission to the petitioner after visiting the place where the petitioner wanted to conduct the State Level Tournament and after satisfying in 2/4

respect of residential accommodation for the teams, coming from outside, after ensuring that the medical facilities in case of emergency and grant permission as per the guidelines of the police vide proceedings in Rc.007301/Genl.I (1)/2019, dated 09.04.2019.

5. With these directions, the Criminal Original Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
