ORDER

The petitioner has filed this writ petition for a mandamus directing the respondents to provide drinking water connection to his residential area by extending the pipeline from the water tap already available within the distance of just 500 meters in the very same village.

2. When the writ petition is taken up for hearing, there is no representation for the petitioner.

3. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner has not approached the concerned Village Panchayat and he has submitted a representation to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Special Cell.

4. As rightly pointed out by the learned Additional Government Pleader, the writ petitioner by submitting a representation to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Special Cell has filed this writ petition. The Government is now providing water connection to every house under the Jal Jeevan Scheme. Therefore, the petitioner shall approach the concerned Village Panchayat with the request for water connection to his residential area. In the event, if any such application is made by the petitioner, the concerned Panchayat shall provide water connection under Jal Jeevan Scheme. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is closed.
