O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for Mandamus directing the respondent to give an Electricity Service Connection to the Petitioner's house bearing Door No.2/70D, situated at K.Chathiram Village, Kadaladi Taluk, Ramanathapuram District by considering his representation, dated 15.09.2020.

2. The respondent on instructions submitted that for the same House, the petitioner's father already sought Electricity connection and after processing the application Electricity connection was granted and the Service number is 354-019-263. Subsequently, it was found that the property tax is not genuine one and the said connection was changed to some other place. Now, for the same place, the petitioner is seeking Electricity connection.

3. The Learned Standing counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that since two receipts were produced, one by the Father and another one by the Son and it carries two different Door numbers. Therefore, the respondent is doubting the genuinity of the property tax receipts. 2/6

4. The contention of the petitioner is that the said land belongs to him and originally, the land belongs to the petitioner's grandmother. Subsequently, through inheritance he received this property and he has put up construction with great difficulty. But, the respondent have not granted Electricity connection.

5. By taking all these facts into consideration, this Court is passing the following order:

i. The petitioner is directed to submit an application to the respondent along with relevant documents including the property tax receipts. ii. If the respondent is doubting the genuinity of the property tax receipts, the respondent shall seek clarification from the concerned Local body.

iii. Thereafter, the respondent shall consider the application as per law.

iv. The application shall be considered within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. With these observations and directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Index : Yes / No 24.08.2023 Internet : Yes NCC : Yes / No Sml/Ksa 4/6
