PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 and 2 to take appropriate action against the respondents 3 to 9 herein for the act of ex-communication against the petitioner and his family members forbearing from participating the Manthai Ammal Temple festival scheduled to be held on 13.08.2023, on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 20.07.2023.

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondents Police to dispose of the representation of the petitioner dated 20.07.2023. According to the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, the unofficial respondents have been practicing excommunication against the petitioner and his family members and preventing them from participating in the festival. 2/5
2. The learned Government Advocate appearing for the official respondents submits that the representation received from the petitioner has been forwarded to the Tahsildar, who seized of the matter and that the representation of the petitioner will be disposed of by issuing notice to the parties concerned.
3. If at all any such ex-communication is being practising, the Tahsildar is directed to examine the truth and see that the petitioner is permitted to worship and participate in the temple festival and report about the outcome of the enquiry on or before 04.08.2023 as the temple festival is scheduled to be held from 13.08.2023.
4. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as costs.
