Order : This petition coming up for orders on this day, upon perusing the petition filed in support thereof and upon hearing the arguments of MR.S.KANAGARAJAN, Advocate for the petitioners and of MR.P.KOTTAI CHAMY, Government Advocate (Crl. Side) on behalf of the Respondent, the court made the following order:- This petition has been filed seeking extension of time granted in Crl.O.P.(MD)No.5964 of 2020, dated 12.06.2020, for producing sureties.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that as per order of this Court, the petitioners produced a demand draft for a sum of Rs.10,000/- in favour of the victim person bearing Demand Draft No.180532, dated 27.07.2020 drawn on Karur Vysya Bank Limited, Nilakottai Branch. However, due to covid-19 pandemic situation, the learned Judicial Magistrate returned the papers. Thereafter, it was again represented on 17.08.2020 and 21.08.2020 and the same was returned for the very same reason. Finally the petitioners represented the surety papers on 23.12.2020 and the same was returned with an endorsement 'time barred'. Hence, they could not produce sureties in time and filed this petition seeking extension of time.

4.Considering the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioners, this petition is allowed on condition that the petitioners shall pay a sum of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) to the credit of Government of Tamil Nadu, CMPRF in IOB, Secretariat Branch, Chennai-9 (Account No.11720 1000000070, IFSC Code: IOBA0001172) and time is extended by ten days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
