PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent No.1 to withdraw the case in Crime No.0113 of 2026 dated 24.04.2026 on the file of respondent No.3 and entrust the same to respondent No.2 or any other competent official for completion of investigation on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 18.05.2026 in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court. ORDER

Seeking to direct the respondent No.1 to withdraw the case in Crime No. 0113 of 2026 dated 24.04.2026 on the file of respondent No.3 and entrust the same to respondent No.2 or any other competent official for completion of investigation on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 18.05.2026, this writ petition is filed.

2. Since no adverse order is passed against the private respondents, notice to the private respondents is dispensed with. 2/6

3. The petitioner's son was murdered on 24.04.2026. Pursuant to which, Crime No.113 of 2026 was registered by the 3rd respondent police. Even after a period of more than 1 1⁄2 months, there is no progress in the investigation and the respondent police had failed to secure even a single accused so far. Hence, the petitioner made a representation for transferring the investigation to a competent police officer.

4. The learned Government Advocate(Crl.side) submitted that postmortem report is awaited.

5. Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.

6. The Dean, Pudukottai Medical College, Pudukottai District is suo motu impleaded as 7th respondent.

7. The 7th respondent is directed to forthwith send a postmortem report pertaining to the murder of Balakrishnan s/o G.Palraj to the 3rd respondent police. The 3rd respondent police, on receipt of the same, is directed to conclude the investigation as expeditiously as possible within a period of eight (8) weeks 3/6

from the date of receipt of postmortem report. The 1st respondent is directed to monitor the same and ensure expeditious investigation. The 3rd respondent is directed to appraise the progress of the investigation to the 1st respondent every Friday.

8. With the above directions, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. 25.06.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No gbg Note : Issue order copy on 29.06.2026.
