PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to participate in the Mulaikottu festival being conducted from 24.07.2023 to 01.08.2023 at Sri Veeramuthu Mariyamman Mulaikottu Mariamman Kovil, Kanmay Kari Kudiuyurupppu, Thiruppalaikudi, Ramanathapuram District. O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondent Police to permit the petitioner and his family members to participate in the Mulaikottu festival being conducted from 24.07.2023 to 01.08.2023 based on the representation given by the petitioner dated 22.07.2023.

2. It is submitted by learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner and his family members have been participating in the Mulaikottu festival at Sri Veeramuthu Mariyamman Mulaikottu Mariamman Kovil, Kanmay Kari Kudiuyurupppu, Thiruppalaikudi, Ramanathapuram District, every year. However, the unofficial respondent has been obstructing the petitioner and his family members to participate in the festival on the ground that there were issues pending between the petitioner and unofficial respondent and a case has also been registered against the son of the unofficial respondent.

3. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) on the other hand submits that the application filed by the petitioner was registered as C.S.R.No.246 of 2023 and yesterday, all the parties concerned were made to sit and advise properly and accordingly, both the petitioner and unofficial respondent have settled their disputes amicably and unofficial respondent has 2/4

also accepted the donation being given by the petitioner for the purpose of celebrating the festival in the village.

4. Since the very purpose of filing this petition have already been fulfilled on account of steps being taken by the Police, no further orders are required to be passed in this Writ Petition.
