ORDER

The petitioner seeks the disposal of an application dated 31.12.2018 for renewal of the S.B.B.L Gun licence.

2. The petitioner states that he was issued the above mentioned gun licence on 09.11.1970 by the Commissioner of Police, Bangalore. Such licence was periodically renewed up to 31.12.2018. Therefore, the petitioner submitted an application dated 31.12.2018 for further renewal of the licence. Upon receipt thereof, it is stated that the Revenue Inspector submitted a report dated 22.02.2016 to the Tahsildar, Thirumangalam recommending renewal. Upon receipt thereof, it is stated that the Tahsildar forwarded the report of the Revenue Inspector to the first respondent along with the report of the Village Administrative Officer. also relies upon a clearance certificate dated 20.02.2019 issued by the Sub Inspector of Police, Thirumangalam Police Station. The present Writ Petition is filed in these facts and circumstances in view of the failure of the respondents to dispose of the application.

3. Mr.P.Subbaraj, learned counsel for the State, accepts notice on behalf of both the respondents. He submits that the first respondent may be directed to consider and dispose of the pending application within a reasonable time frame.

4. The petitioner has enclosed a copy of the gun licence issued to him previously. The proceedings dated 21.01.2019 of the Tahsildar and the clearance certificate dated 20.02.2019 issued by the Superintendent of Police are on record. On the basis of these documents, the petitioner has made out a case for the consideration of his representation.

5. Accordingly, without entering any findings on the merits of the matter, the first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's application dated 31.12.2018 for renewal of the S.B.B.L Gun licence and dispose of such application by a reasoned order within a period of two (2) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6. W.P.(MD).No.19311 of 2021 is disposed of on these terms without any order as to costs.
