ORDER

This writ petition is filed for Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents 2 and 3 to issue death certificate of the petitioner's daughter namely Pandiselvi (DOD-12.08.2020) on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 24.01.2022.

2.The facts of the case is that the petitioner's daughter was married to one Sathish Kumar on 02.09.2019 and she was living in Coimbatore. During the COVID-19 period, the petitioner's daughter was defeated as COVID-19 patient and she died on the way to the hospital and the Doctor, at Coimbatore, had declared that the petitioner was brought dead. Thereafter, the petitioner's daughter was brought to her native Village, Pudukottai, and final cremation was done at Sivakasi Taluk, Virudhunagar Distirct. Hence, the third respondent has raised jurisdiction issue whether the Tahsildar, Coimbatore, has to issue death certificate or the Tahsildar, Sivakasi Taluk, ought to issue death certificate. 3.It is seen from the records that even though the petitioner's daughter died at Coimbatore Hospital, the cremation was done only at Sivakasi Taluk. Based on which,the Tahsildar, Sivakasi Taluk, is a competent person to issue death certificate.

4.Hence, the third respondent/Tahsildar, Sivakasi Taluk, is directed to issue death certificate to the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.With the above directions, this writ petition stands dispose of. No costs. 07.07.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes Vsg To 1.The District Collector, Virudhunagar District, Virudhunagar.
