Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 3 to take action against the respondents 4 to 9 for their illegal act of excommunicating the petitioner and his family members from the village and further direct the respondents 4 to 9 to allow the petitioner and his family members to participate in the festival of St.Antony Church, Maravangeni Village, Vichur Post, Manamelkudi Taluk, Pudukkottai District scheduled to be held from 24.07.2023 to 03.08.2023 after collecting necessary tax (Thalaikkattu) from the petitioner by considering his representation dated 19.07.2023. The petitioner with a grievance that he was not permitted to participate in the church festival has filed this writ petition that he has been discriminated.

Government Pleader, who takes notice for the respondents by producing the written instructions, which he has received from the Tahsildar, Manamelkudi submits that pursuant to this writ petition, Peace committee meeting was conducted by the Tahsildar on 28.07.2023 and an amicable settlement was arrived at between the parties. The petitioner has also agreed to pay the tax demanded by other party and he was also permitted to participate in the church festival.

3.Recording the submission of the learned Additional Government Pleader, this writ petition is closed. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is also closed. 01.08.2023 NCC : Yes / No.
