ORDER

[Order of this Court was made by T.S.SIVAGNANAM, J.] Heard Mr.K.N.Balasubramanian, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.A.K.Baskara Pandian, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

2. The petitioner by way of this Public Interest litigation seeks for direction to prevent illegal quarrying in water body.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that after filing of this writ petition, no permission was granted to any third party for quarrying sand.

4. The third respondent should know that there is an order passed by the Hon'ble Division Bench of this Court in a Public Interest Litigation restraining the authorities from granting any permits. This directions, if violated, then action for contempt will be initiated against the Revenue Divisional Officer and the officials of the Public Works Department.

5. With the above observation, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
