ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of Mandamus directing the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 24.05.2023 and 05.02.2026 seeking transfer of the electricity service connection bearing Connection No.05118019783 to the petitioner's name and conversion of the existing single-phase service connection into a three-phase service connection in respect of the property situated at Door No.50, K.M.P. V.I.P. Nagar, Ammapatti, Kalikappan, Madurai East Taluk, Madurai District, based on the sale certificate dated 28.03.2023 issued by the Bank of India, Mattuthavani Branch, Madurai, and to pass appropriate orders. 2/6

2.Heard Mr.I.Velpradeep, learned counsel for the petitioner, and Mr.S.Deenadhayalan, learned Standing Counsel for TNEB, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

3.By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that, although the petitioner had acquired title to the property through a bank auction sale and had obtained a sale certificate, the electricity service connection has not been transferred to her name till date. Hence, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation dated 24.05.2023 to the third respondent seeking transfer of the electricity service connection to her name and conversion of the existing single-phase service connection into a three-phase service connection. Thereafter, the petitioner also submitted a further representation dated 05.02.2026. Despite receipt of the said representations, no orders have been passed by the respondents. Aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the authorities, the petitioner has 3/6

approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition. 5.The learned counsel further submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if this Court issues a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 24.05.2023 and 05.02.2026 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. 6.Considering the above facts and circumstances of the case, and without going into the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representations dated 24.05.2023 and 05.02.2026, after affording sufficient opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any rival claimants, if any, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
