Mr.S.C.Herold Singh, learned Standing Counsel, takes notice for the respondents.

2. With the consent of both sides, this writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

4. This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to allow the petitioner to retire from service under voluntary retirement scheme and to settle all the terminal benefits payable to him within a time frame that may be fixed by this Court.

5. Learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submits that the application submitted by the petitioner for voluntary retirement is under active consideration and appropriate orders would be passed thereon by the respondents within a period of 90 days from the date of submission of the application. As the said application is stated to have been submitted by the petitioner on 05.05.2026 and the 90 days outer time limit prescribed under the relevant rules has not come to an end, it is still within the scope of the respondents to consider the said application and to pass appropriate orders thereon.

6. In the light of the above, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondents to consider the application dated 05.05.2026 stated to have been submitted by the petitioner seeking to retire from service under voluntary retirement scheme and to pass appropriate orders thereon before expiry of 90 days from the date of receipt of the said application. No costs. 29.06.2026 NCC :
