O R D E R

This Writ Petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondents Police to grant permission for conducting Adal Padal Programme on 03.08.2023 with necessary protection at Arulmigu Ochandamman Karuppusamy Temple, Kalappanpatti Village, Peraiyur Taluk, Madurai District.

2. It is submitted by the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner that a marriage hall is being inaugurated on 03.08.2023 and on account of such inauguration of marriage hall, they have decided to conduct Adal Padal programme on 03.08.2023.

3. The learned Government Advocate (criminal side) appearing for the respondents Police has filed a letter dated 01.03.2023 addressed to him by the local police citing four reasons for rejection of the application given by the petitioner, out of which, it is submitted that the Police are 2/5

having intelligence that communal clashes may likely to erupt in case if Adal Padal Programme is permitted as the marriage hall which is being inaugurated belongs to the people of one community whereas rival community has been raising objections. So far as inauguration of marriage hall is concerned, there will not be any Officer.

4. Considering the submissions made by the learned Government Advocate (criminal side) appearing for the respondents Police, this Court is not inclined to set aside the order passed by the second respondent Police declining to permit the petitioner to conduct the programme.

5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition is dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
