ORDER

The petitioner has prayed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to rectify the mistake and provide the agricultural electricity service connection in Connection No.115-001-1113 in respect of Survey No. 443/4, A.Vallalapatty, Melur Taluk, Madurai District, in his name instead of Sivaji Ganesan.

2.The petitioner submits that he is owning an agricultural land in Survey No.443/4, situated at A.Vallalapatty, Melur Taluk, Madurai District, measuring an extent of 4 Acres and his entire family members are depending upon the agricultural income. Earlier, on 05.12.1996, the petitioner made an application to the third respondent for providing agricultural electricity service connection to his Well, situated in Survey No.443/4. After receiving the application, the third respondent, vide his proceedings dated 04.10.2006, directed the petitioner to pay Rs.500/- to the Assistant Engineer, Distribution Office on or before 04.11.2006, for providing electricity service connection. Accordingly, on 06.10.2006, the petitioner paid the said amount and thereafter, on 05.02.2007, the third respondent directed the petitioner to pay Rs.9,500/- to the fourth respondent on or before 20.02.2007. Accordingly, on 09.02.2007 2/6

the petitioner paid the said amount to the fourth respondent and obtained the aforesaid electricity service connection in his name. 3.The petitioner further submits that in the year 2021, he came to know that the name of one Sivaji Ganesan has been wrongly mentioned as the holder of the aforesaid electricity service connection in the records instead of his name. Hence, the petitioner made a representation to the second respondent on 22.11.2021 to rectify the said mistake and correct the name in the records. However, no action was taken by the second respondent. Therefore, the petitioner has sent an application to the Chairman, Taluk Legal Services Committee, Melur. Thereafter, the Taluk Legal Services Committee, Melur, sent a notice to the respondents in this regard on 12.01.

2022, pursuant to which, the fourth respondent appeared before the Taluk Legal Services Committee, Melur and asked further time to correct the said mistake. Thereafter, no action has been taken. Hence, the present Writ Petition. 4.Today, when the matter is taken up for hearing, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, on instructions, submits that initially, the aforesaid agricultural electricity service connection in Connection No. 115-001-1113 in respect of Survey No.443/4, A.

holder has been wrongly entered in the computer as Sivaji Ganesan. He further submits that necessary steps will be taken to rectify the said mistake. 5.Recording the above said submission made by the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents, this Court directs the third respondent to rectify the said mistake committed by them within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.This Writ Petition stands disposed of accordingly.
