Prayer : Criminal Original Petition filed under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, to direct the Inspector of Police, Melavalavu Police Station, Madurai to expedite the investigation in Crime No.1171 of 2020, dated 11.10.2020 and to file final report, within a stipulated time fixed by this Court. ORDER

This petition has been filed seeking direction to the respondent police to expedite the investigation in Crime No.1171 of 2020, dated 11.10.2020 and to file final report, within a stipulated time fixed by this Court.

2.The case in Crime No.1171 of 2020 has been registered against the accused, based on the complaint given by the petitioner, for the offences punishable under Sections 294(b), 323 and 506(2) IPC on 11.10.2020. The grievance of the petitioner is that even after lapse of a year, no charge sheet has been filed by the respondent police. Hence, this petition.

3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that so far nine witnesses have been examined and the investigation is under way.

4.Considering the nature of offence, there shall be direction to the respondent police to complete the investigation and file final report before the concerned Court, within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. After filing the final report, compliance report must be submitted before this Court.
