O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed for issuance of a direction to the respondent to change the name of the petitioner as 'Swarna' instead of 'Duraichi' in the birth certificate of her son bearing registration No.1142/1990/1 dated 1/4

29.10.1990 issued by the respondent on 04.10.2013 by considering her application dated 24.07.2024 within a time frame.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and perused the materials available on record.

It is the grievance of the petitioner that though the petitioner's name was originally 'Duraichi', the same has been subsequently changed as 'Swarna' and in this regard proper notification also issued in the Tamilnadu Government Gazette of the year 2016. Based on such change in her name, in all the documents her name has been changed. However, in respect of the birth certificate of her son, the name of the petitioner is still remain as 'Duraichi'. Therefore, in this regard, she has given a representation on 24.07.2024 to the authorities to change her name as 'Swarna' as per the Tamilnadu Gazette Notification. Since the said representation has not been considered so far, she has filed this writ petition.

4. Perusal of the records shows that in the Tamilnadu Gazette Notification, the petitioner's name has been changed as 'Swarna'. Considering the limited relief sought for in this writ petition, the respondent is directed to consider 2/4

the representation of the petitioner dated 24.07.2024 and pass appropriate orders to change her name in the birth certificate of her son, within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
