ORDER
This writ petition has been filed to quash the impugned objection proceedings under Letter Ref. No. OBJ/1049330600/25 dated 12.06.2025 issued by the respondent and to direct the respondent to renew and issue a passport to the petitioner by accepting the PAN Card and Aadhaar Card as proof of date of birth, under File No. TR20175051529125, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. The petitioner states that he was issued an Indian Passport bearing No. M2098619 by the respondent on 15.09.2014. On 19.05.2025, he approached the respondent and submitted an application for renewal of the said passport, which was taken on file as File No. TR20175051529125. During the course of enquiry, it was noticed that his date of birth had been wrongly mentioned as 14.10.1968 instead of 14.10.1958. Consequently, the petitioner's application was kept pending and he was directed to furnish his birth certificate. By referring to the same, the respondent issued the objection letter dated 12.06.2025, which is impugned in this writ petition.
3. It appears that the respondent rejected the petitioner's request solely on the ground that he failed to produce proof of his correct date of 2/4
birth. While the petitioner claims his actual date of birth is 14.10.1958, in the application for renewal of passport the date of birth has been recorded as 14.10.1968. In view of this discrepancy of nearly ten years, the petitioner was required to furnish documentary proof of his actual date of birth, which he has not done. Accordingly, the impugned order came to be passed.
4. I find no infirmity in the impugned proceedings. Since the change sought pertains to a difference of ten years in the date of birth, it is incumbent upon the petitioner to substantiate his claim with authentic documentary evidence. In the absence of such proof, no relief can be granted. It is open to the petitioner to submit valid proof of his date of birth, and upon such production, the respondent shall consider the same and reissue the passport in accordance with law.
5. This writ petition stands dismissed accordingly. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 01.09.2025 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes/No Internet:Yes skn To The Regional Passport Officer, The Regional Passport Office, 3/4
