ORDER

This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to quash the first information report in Crime No.72 of 2022 dated 23.07.2022 pending on the file of the first respondent Police.

2.The case of the prosecution is that the second respondent is the Supervisor of the sand stockyard situated at Mangalam village, Ramanthapuram District and he engaged tractors for transporting the sand from river to stockyard. On 23.07.2022, the Drivers and the Owners of the tractor demanded to enhance their hires and thereafter there was a wordy quarrel arose between them, in which, the accused persons abused the second respondent in filthy language and also set fire 2/6

to the hut, worth about Rs.5,000/-. Hence, the second respondent filed a complaint before the first respondent, based on which, the first respondent registered FIR in Cr.No.72 of 2022 for the offences punishable under Sections 147, 294(b), 436 IPC. Challenging the same, the present petition has been filed by the petitioners. 3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted that without going into the merits of the case, this Court may direct the first respondent to complete the investigation within a time frame and also permit the petitioners to produce necessary documents before the Investigating Officer in order to disprove the prosecution case. 4.In view of the fair request made by the learned counsel for the petitioners, this Court directs the first respondent Police to conduct investigation in Cr.No.

72 of 2022 and complete the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, by providing necessary opportunity to the petitioner. The petitioners are at liberty to produce necessary documents before the Investigating Officer in order to disprove the prosecution case.
