[Order of the Court was made by The Hon'ble CHIEF JUSTICE] The petitioner seeks direction to the respondent to grant necessary compensation to the farmers for the failure of the crops in Thanjavur District, by way of crops insurance for the cultivating year 2016-2017 for Paddy and Samba Crops.

2. According to the learned counsel, there was a failure of crop in the cultivating year 2016-2017, The farmers had paid the premium. However, the insurance company has not made the payment.

3. A counter is filed by the respondent. The said counter also does not lead anywhere.

4. For loss of crops, the threshold yield will have to be considered. If the yield is less than the threshold yield, then the question of payment of compensation and insurance claim arises. The said data is not available in the Writ Petition and the insurance company is not a party to the Writ Petition. The present status is not available.

5. In case, the petitioner comes across the statistics and the data and the respondent and the insurance company has not acted as per the said data then the petitioner may agitate in respect of the same.

6. With these observations, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
