The petitioner is before this Court in the nature of a writ of mandamus seeking a direction against the respondent to reissue the passport of the petitioner by correcting the name of his father as "Palukkarasu" instead of "Palraju". , pursuant to his application in File No.MD1073479890121 dated 29.07.2021. 2.I have the benefit of hearing Mr.S.Balaji, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.K.Maharajan, learned Central Government Standing Counsel for the respondent.
3.The learned Central Government Standing Counsel for the respondent states that the petitioner was originally issued with a passport in the year 2004, which expired in the year 2014 and thereafter, the petitioner had sought renewal and had produced documents like Aadhaar Card and Voter Identity Card, which relates to only five years prior to the date of application. But the respondent requires older records like the school certificates or any other acceptable and recognized certificates, wherein, the name of the father of the petitioner had been given as Palukkarasu.
4.Let the petitioner produce those documents before the respondent. If those documents are produced before the respondent, https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2
W.P.(MD) No.19752 of 2021 the respondent may conduct necessary enquiry and thereafter, if they are convinced that the name of the petitioner's father is actually Palukkarasu, issue a proper passport incorporating the correct name of the father of the petitioner. The petitioner is granted time till 17.12.2021 to produce necessary documents before the respondent/Passport Officer, Passport Office, Madurai and thereafter, the respondent may proceed further and do the needful and may issue a fresh passport, if it is in order on or before 10.01.2022.
5.With the above observations, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
