PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of MANDAMUS directing the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum, for the period of delay from 31.05.2023 to 11.09.2023 in paying the amounts paid towards the terminal benefits within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed by a retired employee of the respondent transport Corporation seeking a mandamus to pay interest for the belated disbursement of his terminal benefits. 2.According to the learned Counsel appearing for the writ petitioner, he had attained superannuation on 31.05.2023, and the retirement benefits have been disbursed only on 11.09.2023. Seeking interest, the petitioner has sent a representation on 13.12.2024. However, no orders have been passed. Hence, the present writ petition.

3.Considering the above said facts, the respondents are directed to pay interest for the belated disbursement of the terminal benefits from the due date till the date of disbursement within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

4.With the above said observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
