The petitioner is facing trial in C.C No.20 of 2015 on the file of the Judicial Magistrate No.II, Trichy. The said case came to be lodged following the publication of a defamatory article by the petitioner herein. Thereafter, the petitioner has also expressed his regret and the same was prominently published. Following the expression of regret by the petitioner herein, the Director General of Police, Chennai had also issued a circular dated 09.09.2017 for https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ 1/2

Crl OP(MD)No.3697 of 2015 withdrawal of the cases that were registered for the publication of the offending article.

2.In this view of the matter, the impugned prosecution stands quashed. This petition stands allowed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
