PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to permit the petitioner to conduct the Bullock Cart Race on 16.08.2023 between 06.00 a.m. and 08.00 a.m. from near Seevalaperi Police Station to Naduvakurichi Vilakku as part of the temple festival of Seevalaperi Santhaipetti Manalmedu Sri Sivananaithaperumal, Arulmigu Sri Sudalaimadasamy, Sri Petchiammal, Sri Pappathiammal Temple on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 29.07.2023.

This petition is filed seeking for a direction to the respondent Police to permit the petitioner to conduct Bullock Cart Race on 16.08.2023 in Seevalaperi Santhaipetti Manalmedu Sri Sivananaithaperumal, Arulmigu Sri Sudalaimadasamy, Sri Petchiammal, Sri Pappathiammal Temple.

2. Learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that the District Collector has permitted the rival groups to conduct the Bullock Race on 16.08.2023, thereby, in case, if the petitioner comes forward with the other date, the Police have no objections to give permission.

3. Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is proposed to conduct the Bullock Cart race on 13.08.2023, for which, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) after consulting with the concerned Inspector of Police reports that the respondent Police will have no objection to permit the petitioner to conduct the Bullock cart race on 13.08.2023 and the permission will be accorded.

4. Considering the same, the Writ Petition is disposed of, directing the petitioner to file fresh application seeking permission to conduct Bullock Cart race on 13.08.2023, on which, the respondent Police are directed to consider the same and pass appropriate orders as submitted before this Court. No costs.
