PRAYER : Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to enact a special legislation for the protection of Domestic Workers of Tamil Nadu by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.02.2025 and by implementing the recommendations made by the 3rd respondent vide letter No. 16/HCP/SHRRC/2023, dated on 24.07.2023 and the recommendation of the 4th respondent vide No.3342/WCA/A1/2023, dated 11.07.2023, within the time stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents 1 and 2 to enact a special legislation for the protection of Domestic Workers of Tamil Nadu by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.02.2025 and by implementing the recommendations made by the 3rd respondent vide letter No. 16/HCP/SHRRC/2023, dated on 24.07.2023 and the recommendation of the 4th respondent vide No.3342/WCA/A1/2023, dated 11.07.2023, within the time stipulated by this Court. 2.It is a settled proposition of law that the Government cannot be directed to enact any legislation. Therefore, this Court is not inclined to grant any positive direction. However, the petitioner's representation dated 18.02.2025 may 2/5

be considered by the 2nd respondent at the earliest in the light of the recommendation of the 4th respondent.

3.With the above observations, this Writ Petitions is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
