The writ petition has been filed seeking for a mandamus to direct the 1st respondent to renew the passport of the petitioner as per the law and pass such further order.
2.The case of the petitioner is that the passport was not renewed, in view of the pendency of a criminal case in Crime No.305 of 2013, which has ended in an acquittal. The same has not been denied by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor.
3.In view of the acquittal of the criminal case, there is no bar for the petitioner to approach the 1st respondent again for re-issuance of his passport. In such circumstances, the petitioner is directed to approach the 1st respondent with an appropriate application for re-issuance of passport, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
On such application being made, the 1st respondent is directed to consider the same within a period of eight weeks thereafter. 4.With the aforesaid directions, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.
